Men didn't care about women's issues. When they were able to vote, women started to run for office. there is a matter of time before a women gets ellected president. Women had no advance in life before they could vote. Women where homemakers. They took care of children.

The U.S. Constitution was written because the original organization of the new states under the Articles of Confederation failed to turn the individual colonies into a true nation. Mainly, the U.S. Constitution gives us the framework for our republican form of government. The Constitution was made so our country could have a stable government. They made sure each part of the government had just as much power as the rest. The Constitution protects citizens rights.
In May of 1787, the Founding Fathers gathered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They met in the Pennsylvania State House, the same building where the Declaration of Independence had been signed eleven years earlier. The building is now called Independence Hall. On the constitution, it explains the branches of the government. It tells when to elect new people for our government. Even though the constitution is about 7,000 words long, it is one of the shortest constitutions in the world. My hand would get tired writing all of those words! The one who wrote the U.S. James Madison. Of the 55 delegates, 42 attended most of the meetings,and 39 delegates actually signed the constitution.
